Our team

Blair Palese

Co-Founder

Blair Palese is co-founder and managing editor at Climate & Capital Media. She is also director of philanthropy at Australia’s oldest ethical investment financial advisor. In 2009, Blair cofounded 350.org Australia and was CEO for 10 years. Previously, she was Communications Director for Greenpeace International and Greenpeace USA, head of PR for the Body Shop, editor-in-chief of Greenpages magazine, and worked at Washington Monthly and ABC in the U.S. She is based in Sydney, Australia. Kari Huus

Managing Editor

Kari Huus is a journalist based in Seattle. She was a reporter for MSNBC.com from 1996-2014, with stints covering international business, foreign policy, and national affairs. Earlier, she reported on China for the Far Eastern Economic Review in Hong Kong, and Newsweek in Beijing. She also managed a personal finance web Money Talks News for several years, before joining Climate & Capital.

Laura Sucre

Art Director

Laura is an international designer and creative director currently based in Mexico City. She specializes in publication design and branding and has worked for a wide range of clients including non-profit organizations, art galleries, museums, and culinary businesses. Previously, she worked as a designer at an award-winning boutique design firm in Baltimore.

Peter McKillop

President of Global 2050, Inc.

Peter McKillop is an award-winning writer, journalist, and publisher of Global 2050, a non-profit media company focused exclusively on financial news, and policy analysis of emerging environmental, climate, and energy-related issues. He is the publisher of Climate & Capital Media and Green Central Banking, news sites providing non-partisan, independent journalism and commentary on green finance and the transition to a post-carbon economy. 

Mckillop has a distinguished and wide-ranging career as a foreign correspondent and senior global external affairs executive in the U.S., Asia-Pacific, and Europe. He began his career covering national and international political and financial events as a correspondent and bureau chief for Newsweek magazine in New York, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. He has also served as a senior communications executive at BlackRock, J.P.Morgan, KKR, Bank of America, and UBS, leading global teams focused on building their regional and global brands, and managing complex media and policy issues. 

Peter graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in history and African Studies. He serves as a board member of the Africa-America Institute,  Hirondelle USA, and Eaglebrook School.

He is based in New York with his wife, a senior producer at Reuters Plus. They have two grown children.

 

 

David Garrison

Co-Founder

David is a co-founder of Climate & Capital and writes Climate & Capital’s climate leadership column. In 2021, he launched Climate & Capital Connect, a global networking platform that matches climate and sustainability professionals for 1:1 meetings. Prior to Climate & Capital, David held senior roles at companies in spaces as diverse as healthcare, consulting, and music tech. He’s based in Maine, USA.

Barclay Palmer

Executive editor and head of strategy

Barclay is Executive Editor and Head of Strategy at Climate and Capital. He also serves as strategic advisor in cleantech, media, energy, and edtech, specializing in messaging, fundraising, recruiting and research. Barclay has been an award-winning journalist over 30 years at CNN, CBS News, Bloomberg, Reuters, Newsweek, RealVision, Times Mirror, PBS NewsHour and other outlets. He played senior roles on Amanpour, Anderson Cooper 360, Newsnight, CNN Business News, and in managing coverage of 9/11, TWA Flight 800 and other major events.

John Howell

Finance Editor

John Howell is a writer, editor, and broadcaster who oversees the Climate Finance Weekly newsletter and advises on communications and media strategy. He was co-founder, editorial director, and chief of thought leadership for 3BL Media, for which he managed all original editorial content, wrote, and edited newsletters, and created the Brands Taking Stands initiative. He has worked as an editor and contributor for Elle, Artforum, and High Times magazines, developed new media for Hearst Magazines, and created communications for Calvin Klein, Polo/Ralph Lauren, and The Body Shop. He lives and works in New Hampshire and Maine.
